Remember my bloggers design tour to London last spring? Well there is one place that I haven't told you about yet and that is Heal's. The famous department store was founded by John Harris Heal in 1810, introducing French style feather-filled mattresses to London's homeowners. Today Heal's is a veritable design institution, filled with contemporary furniture and lighting.

Heal's has a long tradition of supporting emerging design talents, and the department store was also one of the first in Britain to offer new design such as mid-century modern and Scandinavian design.

The stunning staircase was designed by Cecile Brewer in 1916 for the Tottenham Court Road store, where Heal's is located since 1833.
