These beautiful images from Linum's new autumn/winter 2016 collection arrived in my mailbox a few days ago. Muted couleurs, dark wood and a certain art deco influence prevail.

Ces belles images de la nouvelle collection automne/hiver 2016 de Linum sont arrivées dans ma boite mail il y a quelques jours. Des couleurs grisées, du bois foncé et une certaine influence art déco dominent.

Artilleriet is a fantastic interior design shop located on the Swedish west coast, in Gothenburg. In order to celebrate 5 years of existence, they just opened Artilleriet Studio, a whole apartment decorated with the most perfect mix of old and new. The exhibition is open until 29th of October so don't miss out if ever you're visiting Gothenburg before that. And if not, here are some beautiful pictures to be inspired by, shot by Johanna Bradford (and you'll find a few more on her blog). Love the rugs, the dark walls, the brass desk, the picture wall and the velvet chairs!

During our Sunny Design Days tour in Spain we had extremely hot weather, culminating at +39° in Madrid by the end of the week... So you can easily imagine how happy we all were to discover the backyard of Gandia Blasco's showroom, and even more so when we a little later also had the possibility to try out both the pool and the brand's outdoor furniture which was arranged around it! But let's start from the beginning...

Pendant notre Sunny Design Days tour en Espagne, on a eu des températures extrêmement élevées culminant à +39° à Madrid en fin de semaine... Alors vous pouvez facilement imaginer à quel point on était heureux de découvrir l'arrière cour du showroom de Gandia Blasco, d'autant plus qu'un peu plus tard on a eu la possibilité de tester aussi bien la piscine que le mobilier extérieur de la marque qui était disposé autour! Mais commençons par le début...


Gandia Blasco was founded in 1941 by José Gandia-Blasco, initially producing blankets and bedspreads. Many years later, José A, the founders son, couldn't find find the right furniture for his newly built home in Ibiza and asked his architect to create what he needed. The result was a series of outdoor furniture with geometric shapes and right angles, just like the architecture of the Ibiza homes in pure white. 
To be honest, I think it's not that easy to find outdoor furniture that is aesthetically appealing, but I could happily see everything in Gandia Blasco's courtyard in my own garden (well, it might not be big enough but you get the point...).

Fondé en 1941 par José Gandia-Blasco, la société Gandia Blasco commercialisait initialement des plaids et dessus de lits. Un bon nombre d'années plus tard, José A, fils du fondateur, ne trouvant pas le mobilier extérieur qu'il cherchait pour sa maison nouvellement construite à Ibiza, a demandé à son architecte de créer ce dont il avait besoin. Le résultat était une collection de mobilier d'extérieur aux formes géométriques et angles droits, tout comme l'architecture des maisons en blanc immaculé d'Ibiza. 
Pour être honnête, je trouve qu'il n'est pas facile de trouver du mobilier extérieur qui est esthétiquement attrayant, mais je pourrais facilement voir tout ce qui se trouvait dans la cour de Gandia Blasco dans mon propre jardin (bon d'accord, il n'est peut-être pas assez grand mais vous voyez où je veux en venir...).



In the showroom we got to admire Gandia Blasco's brand of home textiles, Gan Rugs. The brand offers products that combine great design (by Patricia Urquiola, Nendo, Jean-Marie Massaud and many more...) and unique craftsmanship, coming together in a beautiful collection of rugs, cushions and textile covered furniture pieces.

Dans le showroom, on a pu admirer de plus près la marque d'accessoires textiles de Gandia Blasco, Gan Rugs. La marque propose des produits qui combine du grand design (signé Patricia Urquiola, Nendo, Jean-Marie Massaud et bien d'autres...) et de l'artisanat unique, le tout réuni dans une superbe collection de tapis, coussins et des pièces de mobilier en texile.

Last week the 20th edition of Maison & Objet took place here in Paris. As usual I spent quite a few hours strolling down the aisles, trying to get a good look at the latest design news. You've probably already seen lots of pictures from the fair on other blogs so I won't bore you with an endless article here, but just show you some of my own favourites. I'm always on the lookout for Scandinavian brands, so you will find many of those here below, but not only... Come along for a walk!

One of our mornings in Barcelona started with breakfast at Nanimarquina's showroom, discovering their beautiful collection of unique rugs. Nani Marqina, who also joined us that morning, established the company in 1987 with the desire to design innovative rugs combining contemporary design and traditional handcraft. Nanimarquina collaborates with prestigious international designers, like Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for example, to create unique collections.

L'une de nos journées à Barcelone avait débuté par un petit déjuner dans le showroom de Nanimarquina, tout en découvrant leur belle collection de tapis uniques. Nani Marquina, qui nous a aussi rejoint ce matin là, a fondé la marque en 1987 avec l'envie de créer des tapis innovants, en associant le design contemporain à l'artisanat traditionnel. Nanimarquina collabore avec des designer internationaux et prestigieux, comme Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec par exemple, afin de créer des collections uniques.
