As I told you in the last post, I had the pleasure of working together with three beautiful Swedish brands at Maison & Objet: Fine Little Day, Kajsa Cramer and Ylva Skarp. For their first participation at the Paris fair, they had the excellent idea of exhibiting together in one booth and thus creating a bigger impact. Not to talk about how much easier and fun it is as a group :)

If you're not yet familiar with these brands, now's your chance to get to know them better. And for those who are already fans, take a closer look at their autumn news because they are definitely worth it. I'll present them one by one, so first out: Fine Little Day!

Comme je vous ai dit dans le dernier post, j'ai eu le plasir de travailler avec trois belles marques suédoises à Maison & Objet: Fine Little Day, Kajsa Cramer et Ylva Skarp. Pour leur première participation au salon parisien, elles ont eu l'excellente idée d'exposer ensemble sur un même stand et par conséquent, créer un plus grand impact. Sans parler du fait que c'est bien plus facile et fun à plusieurs :)

I thought I'd start the week with some very flowery pictures from the London bloggers tour. Thanks to the atmine* team, we had the pleasure of spending an afternoon at the iconic Liberty department store on Regent Street, where we were welcomed by Emma Mawston, Head of Design, and her team. Btw, this London landmark is celebrating 140 years of existence in 2015, quite impressive!

J'avais envie de commencer la semaine par quelques images bien fleuries du blog tour à Londres. Grâce à l'équipe atmine*, on a eu le plaisir de passer un après-midi à l'iconique magasin Liberty sur Regent Street, où nous avons été accueillis par Emma Mawston, Directrice Artistique, et son équipe. D'aillleurs, ce repère londonien fête ses 140 ans d'existence en 2015, assez impressionnant!

We got a unique presentation of the new Secret Garden collection, inspired by the book with the same name by Francis Hodgson Burnett. The collection is entirely hand-drawn and Emma gave us an insight to the creative process, the inspiration behind it and we also got to admire the original drawings - amazing!

On a pu profiter d'une présentation unique de la nouvelle collection Secret Garden, inspirée par le livre du même nom de Francis Hodgson Burnett. La collection est entièrement dessinée à la main et Emma nous a donné un aperçu de la démarche créative, l'inspiration derrière et on a aussi pu admirer les dessins d'origine - superbes!

at{mine} had organised a full day for our blogger group in London, with the goal to experience the highlights of British design. One of the stops was at the very inspiring The New Craftsmen, located in Mayfair near Oxford Street.

at{mine} avait organisé une journée londonienne bien remplie pour notre groupe dans le but de nous faire découvrir le meilleur du design britannique. L'une de nos destinations était le très inspirant The New Craftsmen, situé dans le quartier de Mayfair près de Oxford Street.


One of The New Craftsmen makers is Lola Ley (on the photo above), a Hanoi born, London based furniture and product designer. Click here to read Bungalow5's interview with Lola! It was very inspring listening to her talking about her work, and she also invited us to get crafty ourselves, making our own place mats through stitching and dying fabric, which was great fun :)

L'un des artisans de The New Craftsmen est Lola Ley (sur la photo ci-dessus), une designer produit et mobilier née à Hanoi, aujourd'hui basée à Londres. Cliquez ici pour lire l'interview de Bungalow5 avec Lola! C'était très inspirant d'écouter Lola parler de son travail, et elle nous a aussi invité à faire travailler nos petites mains en fabriquant nos propre sets de tables à travers la couture et la teinture du tissu - on s'est bien amusé :)


In the evening, we used our place mats to set the table for the dinner, which took place around the big wooden table at the back of the shop. Laid-back atmosphere, interesting discussions, lots of laughter and a delicious meal cooked by Nathalie, one the founders of The New Craftsmen.

Le soir, on a utilisé nos sets de table pour mettre la table pour le diner, qui a eu lieu autour d'une grande table en bois à l'arrière de la boutique. Ambiance décontractée, discussions intéressantes, beaucoup de rires et un repas délicieux préparé par Nathalie, l'une des fondatrices de The New Craftsmen.


At the dinner, we also had the pleasure of meeting with Gareth Neal, a British designer and furniture maker. He is also the man behind the Mindful Living exhibition which has been presented at the Mayfair store this last month (ending tomorrow so hurry if you're in London and haven't seen it yet!).
The New Craftsmen asked Gareth  to strip back his life to a set of 10 objects that could fulfil his needs both mentally and physically. The items were designed by Gareth and other makers of The New Craftsmen and presented in collaboration with The Bothy Project, a network of small-scale, off-grid art residency spaces in distinct and diverse locations around Scotland and beyond.

Au diner, on a aussi eu le plaisir de rencontrer Gareth Neal, un designer et menuisier britannique. Il est aussi l'homme derrière l'exposition Mindful Living qui a été présentée ce dernier moi à la boutique de Mayfair (dernier jour demain alors si vous êtes à Londres, dépêchez-vous si vous ne l'avez pas vu!).
The New Craftsmen a demandé à Gareth de réduire sa vie à un lot de 10 objets qui pouvaient lui suffire mentalement et physiquement. Les objets ont été créés par Gareth et d'autres artisans de The New Craftsmen et présenté en collaboration avec The Bothy Project, un réseau de petits espaces déconnectés pour créateurs, situés à différents endroits en Ecosse et ailleurs.

The next exhibition coming up at the New Craftsmen is "Made in Mayfair", which is part of the London Craft Week, a new annual event running from May 5th to June 13th, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship, through a journey-of-discovery programme featuring hidden workshops, celebrated makers, other lesser known makers and highly specialised skills alongside famous shops, galleries and luxuary brands.

La prochaine exposition chez The New Craftsmen s'appelle "Made in Mayfair" et fait partie de London Craft Week, un nouvel événement annuel qui aura lieu du 5 mai au 13 juin et qui mettra en avant un artisanat exceptionnel à travers un programme de 'voyage découverte' qui passera par des ateliers cachés, des artisans célèbres, d'autres moins connus aux compétences particulières, le tout à côté de fameuses boutiques, galeries et marques de luxe.

En début d'année j'ai eu l'honneur de faire partie du jury (en excellente compagnie) pour le Bemz Design Award 2014. Lancé par Bemz en collaboration avec des écoles de design de 4 pays (France, Allemagne, Grande Bretagne et Suède), le concours a pour but d'encourager et inspirer des designers textile futurs. 
Je suis ravie de vous annoncer que la gagnante en France, Eva Bertrand d'ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres à Paris, a également remporté la grande finale internationale! Ses trois sublimes motifs Cascades, Ondes et Vibration font désormais partie de la Bemz Designer Collection - félicitations Eva!

Ce mardi 20 mai à la Galerie d'Art GDM, 17 rue Saint Gilles, Paris 3ème, Bemz exposera et mettra en situation tous les tissus édités et présentera aussi le travail de plusieurs candidats français. L'expo est ouverte au public de 14h à 19h, alors n'hésitez pas à venir découvrir le travail de ses étudiants doués. La gagnante Eva Bertrand sera présente ainsi que la fondatrice de Bemz, Lesley Pennington. Je serai là aussi (jusqu'en milieu d'après-midi je pense).


Earlier this year I had the honor of being part of the jury (in excellent company) for the Bemz Design Award 2014. The contest was launched in cooperation with design schools in 4 countries (France, Germany, UK and Sweden) with the goal to encourage and inspire future textile designers.
I'm very happy to let you know that the French winner, Eva Bertrand from ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres in Paris, also won the international final! Her three beautiful designs Ondes, Vibration et Cascade have now been added to the Bemz Design Collection, congratulations Eva!

This Tuesday May 20th at Galerie d'Art GDM, 17 rue Saint Gilles, Paris 3, Bemz will exhibit all edited designs and also present the work of several French contestants. The exhibition will be open to public from 2pm to 7pm, so come by and discover the work of theses talented students. The winner Eva Bertrand will be present, as well as the founder of Bemz Lesley Pennington. I will also be there (until middle afternoon I think).

Notre blog tour à Stockholm a commencé par une soirée créative et amusante dans le magasin d'inspiration de Bemz. Our blog tour in Stockholm started with a creative and fun evening in Bemz inspiration store. Bemz business idea is to help you personnalize and give a new life to your IKEA furniture thanks to their large choice of custom made covers for sofas, chairs, beds... So it only seemed fair to ask our group of bloggers to be creative too by personnalizing a basic cushion cover with the help of the different accessories Bemz had prepared for us.
