Today I'm feeling inspired by Danish photographer Ditte Isager's home and studio in Copenhagen. A personal and creative interior, just as I like it. Here you can read more details about her home and if you want to see more of Ditte's work, you'll find her beautiful portfolio here.

Dating back to 1722, Råcksta mansion close to Stockholm has a rich and divers history, most recently used for representation purposes by the state owned electric energy company. This historic building has now been converted into modern dwellings where carefully restored original features are given a central role in each apartment: stunning ceiling paintings, wonderful ceramic stoves, exposed beams...

Datant de 1722, l'hôtel particulier Råcksta près de Stockholm a une histoire riche et diversifée, plus récemment utilisé à des fins de représentation par la société d'état d'énergie électrique. Ce bâtiment historique a maintenant été transformé en logements modernes où les éléments d'origine, soigneusement restaurés, occupent un rôle central dans chaque appartement: des magnifiques peintures de plafond, des superbes poêles en faience, des poutres apparentes....

I would love to paint my whole bedroom in a dark colour, but that won't happen until I get a room with more natural light... For the moment I'll just stick with my black headboard (which I showed here) and continue to fill my inspiration folder for the future with rooms like the one below. I find this turquin blue shade so calm and peaceful.

J'aimerais bien peindre toute ma chambre dans une couleur sombre, mais cela ne risque pas d'arriver avant d'avoir une pièce avec un peu plus de lumière naturelle... Pour l'instant, je me contente de ma tête de lit noire (que j'avais montré ici) et je continue à alimenter mon dossier d'inspiration pour l'avenir avec des chambres comme celle ci-dessous. Je trouve cette teinte de bleu turquin si calme et apaisante.

I love everything about Krickelin's dining room: the beautiful gallery wall, that perfect dark blue shade on the door, the large concrete table, the mix of wooden chairs and the airy and contemporary pendant lamp. The kind of personal, timeless and authentic interior that we will hopefully see a lot more of in 2016.

J'adore tout dans la salle à manger de Krickelin: la jolie galerie d'art au mur, la parfaite nuance de bleu sur la porte, la grande table en béton, le mélange de chaises en bois et la suspension aérée et contemporaine. Le genre de déco personnelle, intemporelle et authentique que l'on verra beaucoup plus, je l'espère, en 2016.

Looking at what is trending in Sweden right now, this flat ticks all the right boxes: walls painted in grey, green and dark blue, natural materials like wood, rattan and linen, details in leather, marble and brass, photo art and a handcrafted wall hanging.

You might have seen this apartment around already, but I'm showing it here anyway because it's a great example of what is happening in Scandinavia right now (well at least in Sweden): bye bye white walls, hello dark colours! Remember this post about darker colours in the kitchen? Or this apartment styled in three différent ways?
Well, walls in muted tones of blue, green, grey or even black are now popping up everywhere!

Vous avez peut-être déjà vu cet appartement, mais je le montre quand même ici aussi parce que c'est un très bon exemple de ce qui se passe en Scandinavie (ou en Suède au moins) en ce moment: bye bye murs blancs, hello couleurs foncées! Vous vous souvenez de ce post sur les couleurs plus foncées en cuisine? Ou de cet appartement relooké en 3 styles différents?
Et bien, les murs en nuances éteintes de bleu, vert, gris ou même noir font maintenant leur apparition un peu partout!


In order to keep a feeling of space and light despite the dark walls, the trick is to go for light furniture, a decluttered decoration and leave ceilings, doors and windows in white. You can also paint only the lower part of the wall or leave some walls white to avoid overloading. Details in leather, wood and rustic ceramics add warmth to the room, not to forget the green plants.

Pour garder l'impression d'espace et de luminosité malgré les murs foncés, l'astuce consiste à opter pour un mobilier clair, une déco épurée et laisser blanc les plafonds, portes et fenêtres. On peut aussi peindre que la partie inférieure du mur ou laisser certains murs en blanc pour ne pas surcharger l'espace. Des détails en cuir, bois et céramique rustique apportent de la chaleur à la pièce, sans oublier les plantes vertes.
